ParticipantPlease send us client- and server-side logs:

Participant1. It is not so responsive. I tried to run another 3.5 client to connect back to my old 3.5 server, and it is very responsive…so it is unlikely a network issue. Any setting in 4.0 to optimize the connectivity for latency so that it will be more responsive?
Have you tried tweaking the display settings (menu -> display -> display settings). In version 4 the new protocol is much better at handling modern applications which are considered more “graphic-intensive” (more details about the new protocol are here: https://www.nomachine.com/AR11K00745).
In 4.1 we have implemented a new optional “lightweight mode” for thin-clients and for client and server machines with lower HW characteristics.
2. Sometimes, when I pressed ctrl+c or ctrl+x, they got translated into 10+ ‘c’ or 10+ ‘x’. I never have such problem with 3.5.
We will investigate this.

ParticipantTrouble Report for this is here: https://www.nomachine.com/TR12K04107
and should be fixed in the upcoming 4.1 release.

ParticipantIf you have installed NoMachine (the free version), then you are connecting to the physical desktop. If you want to run virtual desktops and be able to reconnect to them, you need the Workstation.

ParticipantDesktop shortcuts will be possible in the upcoming 4.1 🙂
Dan25
ParticipantIn version 4.1 the default setting will be to see your own sessions.
Dan25
ParticipantYou installed the free version (4.0.370) on both Ubuntu boxes? Logs of the client will be useful.
https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00697 Check the section ‘How to gather client side logs’.
Dan25
ParticipantIdeally, we need clients logs from Darcymain (R-*) when trying to connect to problematic servers, and also server side logs of problematic machines: AtticPC, HPbeagle and Ubuntu 10.04.

ParticipantEnterprise Desktop is for access to the physical display. What you need is the Workstation. Uninstall, remove the directory and reinstall one of the products with the virtual desktop feature. Compare the products here:

ParticipantSeb, the product and version is visible in the section ‘Software updates’. From the Monitor, click ‘Show the server status’ -> ‘Server preferences’ and then select the last icon. Is this what you mean?
Dan25
ParticipantThanks, the logs were very useful. There is an issue with reporting sessions from remote nodes: sessions from node where ‘local X server’ is not working are moved to db/failed after a while. This is why the ‘failed’ directory is growing. The issue has already been fixed and will be available in 4.1.

ParticipantProbably due to the previous package that you had installed. I suggest uninstalling all packages again, removing the directory and reinstalling.
Dan25
ParticipantThis is different from previous issues with a failed session directory. Files accumulated in db/failed are smaller and are assigned to ‘connection monitor’. The issue is under investigation. Can you send us the ‘var/log’ directory. We have just the ‘var/db’ directory.

ParticipantThis particular feature request didn’t make the upcoming 4.1, but we definitely have it lined up as one of the next features to be offered.

ParticipantWhat Linux distro do you have installed, and the version too? What’s the application and desktop environment? Additionally, logs would be useful. Follow the instructions here: https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00697. Reproduce the problem and then attach them here or send them to issues[at]nomachine.com.
