KeymasterHi, can you download and install again? There was a problem with the free NoMachine for Windows package.
Britgirl
KeymasterYes, you’re right. I’ve removed the label ‘solved’, but the thread remains closed because a TR is now open on it: https://www.nomachine.com/TR07L04481. You can use this to track the problem by signing up to know when it’s fixed.

KeymasterThe error messages tell me that you are trying to install a NoMachine (the free version) on top of a Small Business Server installation. If you want the updates to your Small Business Server, you can log in to your customer area and get the Update Version.

KeymasterHi, I removed your link because it points to a tutorial about the old version 3.5.0, and these forums are dedicated to version 4 client to version 4 server. The tutorial will only confuse users. For headless Linux servers, your best bet is to look at our own article:
https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00710
There have also been similar enquiries about NoMachine running on EC2 which you can consult here if you like, among them:

KeymasterThe product you downloaded is the free NoMachine for Linux which gives access to the physical display. If you want to use it on a headless server, just follow the instructions here:
https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00710
If you want to connect to a virtual desktop (like you did with version 3, assuming you were using the free version back then which was the NX Free Edition), then you need the Workstation as I already mentioned.I don’t think you had problems because the software didn’t work (it works out of the box) , it’s because you downloaded the wrong product.

KeymasterThere is a Feature Request open for this. See here:https://www.nomachine.com/FR07L02818.

It was fixed in 4.2.24.

KeymasterWe sent you a library a month or so ago to allow us to debug. Since you contacted us we have made further updates, and any new investigation we do will always be on the latest version available, so please update and let us know if you are still having issues. Thanks.

KeymasterYou’re connecting to a 3.5.0 server. This version is now dealt with via the traditional support channels. If you contact us here https://www.nomachine.com/contact-request, our developers will be able to tell you whether it’s a known bug, and if there’s a workaround. Also, please tell us what Linux distribution you are using and its version.
Britgirl
KeymasterMaybe you installed the wrong product. Did you install Workstation or the free NoMachine for Linux? They are different products. You mention that you were able to connect some time ago. Were you using the 3.x version? If so, what you need is the Workstation in version 4.
Britgirl
KeymasterCan you confirm that you are connecting to a host with NoMachine 4 installed? Earlier versions such as NX 3.5.0 are dealt with via the traditional support channels. In that case, you can either submit your issue here https://www.nomachine.com/report-issues, or via the contact request form by clicking Contact Us in the footer of the website.

KeymasterPlease collect log files as explained here: https://www.nomachine.com/AR07K00677.
You can send them to issues[at]nomachine[dot]com.
Thanks.
p.s I will remove your other post because it is a duplicate.

KeymasterYou mentioned you are trying to connect to a physical desktop. The logs show that you are reconnecting a custom session.
So first of all, if you want to be sure you connect to the physical desktop, you should create a new connection (you can use the wizard to do this). As for the reason why the custom session is failing, please give us the output of the following commands executed in a terminal:
1. echo $DISPLAY
2. echo $XAUTHORITY
3. ls -l $HOME/.Xauthority
4. LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/NX/lib /usr/NX/bin/nxauth -f $XAUTHORITY list $DISPLAYBritgirl
KeymasterCan you submit the logs again? You can also send them to issues[at]nomachine[.]com. Thanks.

KeymasterHi Tamas, right now there is no API to let you do that, but it is something we would like to offer in the future. I can’t say which version right now.
