    Hi,

I would highly appretiate it if you could perform further steps to help me understand what could be the issue.

    1. From within the NoMachine session -> Devices -> Connect USB Devices panel and send a screenshot.

    2. Open the terminal on macOS and send the output of the following command:

sudo launchctl list | grep  nxusbd

    3. Try to forward a simple USB device, like a USB flash drive, and check if it works.

    4. Check the ping time to the remote machine. If it exceeds 30ms, USB forwarding might not work.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Is there a way to connect the device directly to the remote machine and check if the same error is there?

Or, try to forward another iOS device, and check if the issue still persists.

    Hi,

Just to clarify, there are two different forwarding modules, that work independently, one for disk forwarding and another for USB device forwarding (USB device could be disk as well).

In case of USB devices forwarding:

    1. Please check in the Devices > Connect USB Device panel, do you see both local and remote USB devices?

    2. Please check on both machines, if one of these conflicting software is installed: https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/AR04Q01027

    Hi,

To share a USB external flash drive, did you use a Devices > Connect USB device functionality?

    Hi,

Can you please try to restart both machines, and after try to forward regular mouse first?

In addition, questions that might help figure out what’s going on:

    – Do you see both local and remote devices under the “Menu -> Devices -> Connect a USB Device” tab?

    – Do you have a stable internet connection to the server machine with less than 30ms ping time?

    – Could you please send logs from both (client and server) sides? You can send them directly to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com.

    Hi,

I made a couple of tests with a macOSX from MacInCloud Dedicated Server, and can confirm that there is an issue with forwarding any type of USB device via NoMachine. At the moment we. are fixing the issue, and it will soon be available.

A temporary workaround for macOSX provided by MacInCloud is. the following:

    – Restart remote macOSX

    – Connect to remote macOSX, do not enter to NoMachine’s USB devices window.

    – Run the following command in the remote macOS’s terminal (no error messages should be displayed):

    sudo kextload /Library/Application\ Support/NoMachine/Extensions/nxusbvic_11.0.kext

    – Go to NoMachine’s USB devices tab and forward the required device.

These steps should be repeated every time after remote macOSX restart.

Also,  please pay attention to the ping time. In my case, I took a Dedicated Server too far with 100+ ms ping time, which made forwarded USB devices usage extremely slow.

    Hi,

I see you have compiled nxusb.ko file. Can you please run the following command and paste the output here?

    insmod /usr/NX/bin/drivers/nxusb.ko

Also, please make sure that in your VM settings, you have enabled a USB Controller (so your virtualization software will support USB devices for the VM).

    Hi,

It seems to me that the issue is on the macOS side. Please take a look at this article to accept all required drivers’ permissions.

To check if all required permissions are provided, you can run in terminal this command:

    sudo kextload /Library/Application\ Support/NoMachine/Extensions/nxusbvhci_11.0.kext/

If there is empty output or error indicating that the driver is already loaded – permissions are set properly.

    Hi,

Have you checked this article https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/AR12J00658 ? Particularly, what is an output of the command from point 1?

Hi, workaround script is not required anymore, it’s included in the NoMachine’s latest release. On mac M1 machines USB devices forwarding is on the last stage of testing, so soon it will become available.

    Hi,

NoMachine software supports only USB devices forwarding.

    Hi,

Can you please share with us Windows and NoMachine’s versions?

Once the Yubikey is forwarded as a USB device, do you see it in the remote machine’s devices manager as a USB device?

Have you tried to forward any other USB device to the same machine and check if it works?

    Hi,

Can you please post a screenshot of the Devices -> Connect a USB device tab?

Also if there is any chance, please try to forward any other USB device (i.e. flash drive, or mouse), so we can find out if it’s a device-specific issue or not.

    Hi,

Yes you are right, the folder:

    /Library/Application Support/NoMachine/Extensions/

for your OS version should contain at least the following files:

    nxusbproxy_11.0.kext<span style=”white-space: pre;”>
    </span>nxusbvic_11.0.kext<span style=”white-space: pre;”>
    </span>nxusbvhci_11.0.kext

Please try re-installing NoMachine’s latest version.

    Hi,

Can you please share the NoMachine version you have installed on that VM? If it’s lower than 7.7.4, I would suggest updating.

In addition please take a look at this article: https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/AR01P00962
