H.264 streaming is more optimized for multimedia content, where X11 Vector Graphics Mode (which is what you prefer) is used for non-video contents like textual elements.

NoMachine Workstation on Raspberry may be possible. You need to contact our Sales Team 🙂 We didn’t make it available at the time of adding support for RPi initially because the HW couldn’t cope with running up to 4 virtual desktops (which is what the Workstation provides), but now that the HW has improved, it’s worth exploring. Our tests show that RPi3 can run no more than 3 virtual desktop sessions in low resolution, plus 1 physical desktop session. RPi4, on the other hand, is much more powerful and our initial tests are looking very positive 🙂

The display server (or X server) is not the same thing as the desktop environment.
Whilst NoMachine can use its own display server (which is a virtual X server) if it doesn’t find one on the Linux host, it still needs a desktop environment to be able to show you a desktop, so it’s not advisable to uninstall the desktop environment (Gnome, in your case).

What’s the Linux distribution and version? I take it you are connecting to a computer with the free version installed?
Can you send us the install.log or update.log? Neither of these were in the log file you submitted. You can find them in ProgramData with the other log files, or if something went wrong with the installation you can find them here: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp\Setup Log…2019-06….txt.

Hi, you could try this.
1) connect to the remote desktop
2) to close the session, use this shortcut: Ctrl-Alt-T
3) make sure the box at the bottom is flagged “Remember current window size and position” (screenshot attached)
This needs to be done only once.
If that doesn’t help, then we need the specific steps to reproduce.

If NoMachine doesn’t find a local x server, NoMachine starts its own virtual display. If you restart the NoMachine service, the virtual display it just created is obviously terminated, hence you are disconnected.
To avoid this problem, you can either:
– make sure a graphical interface is installed
– or avoid restarting service
