You’re connecting to a 3.5.0 server. This version is now dealt with via the traditional support channels. If you contact us here https://www.nomachine.com/contact-request, our developers will be able to tell you whether it’s a known bug, and if there’s a workaround. Also, please tell us what Linux distribution you are using and its version.
BritgirlKeymasterMaybe you installed the wrong product. Did you install Workstation or the free NoMachine for Linux? They are different products. You mention that you were able to connect some time ago. Were you using the 3.x version? If so, what you need is the Workstation in version 4.
BritgirlKeymasterCan you confirm that you are connecting to a host with NoMachine 4 installed? Earlier versions such as NX 3.5.0 are dealt with via the traditional support channels. In that case, you can either submit your issue here https://www.nomachine.com/report-issues, or via the contact request form by clicking Contact Us in the footer of the website.
BritgirlKeymasterPlease collect log files as explained here: https://www.nomachine.com/AR07K00677.
You can send them to issues[at]nomachine[dot]com.
Thanks.
p.s I will remove your other post because it is a duplicate.
BritgirlKeymasterYou mentioned you are trying to connect to a physical desktop. The logs show that you are reconnecting a custom session.
So first of all, if you want to be sure you connect to the physical desktop, you should create a new connection (you can use the wizard to do this). As for the reason why the custom session is failing, please give us the output of the following commands executed in a terminal:
1. echo $DISPLAY
2. echo $XAUTHORITY
3. ls -l $HOME/.Xauthority
4. LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/NX/lib /usr/NX/bin/nxauth -f $XAUTHORITY list $DISPLAYBritgirlKeymasterCan you submit the logs again? You can also send them to issues[at]nomachine[.]com. Thanks.
BritgirlKeymasterHi Tamas, right now there is no API to let you do that, but it is something we would like to offer in the future. I can’t say which version right now.
BritgirlKeymasterHi, yes we got them and they are being analyzed 🙂
BritgirlKeymasterCan you resubmit the logs to issues[at]nomachine[dot]com? If you are connecting to a version 4 server, we will need to check why you are not able to run a custom session (name of application by the way?) yet you can run a virtual desktop session.
BritgirlKeymasterHi John, no it didn’t 😉 Bear with us a little longer…
BritgirlKeymasterA 30% of CPU consumption when a session is running is normal. If you have high CPU usage when you are not running sessions, please enable debug and then reproduce problem. Send the var/log directory and .nx directory located in userhome of desktop’s owner. Thanks.
BritgirlKeymasterThanks for everyone’s suggestions and ideas. We’ll start evaluating what can be done.
BritgirlKeymasterPermission is not requested if the user that is connecting is the owner of the desktop session. Does this answer your question?
BritgirlKeymasterThe log files were both damaged. Please resubmit to issues[at]nomachine.com referencing the topic.
Additionally, in your forum post, please provide more details about the version of the NoMachine products you are using (see list below). Thanks.
BritgirlKeymasterI use this machine to remote to other machines
If you only want to connect from this Windows machine and not also to it, it’s enough to install Enterprise Client for Windows.
